There is no known treatment or cure for Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) yet. Treatment involves alleviating symptoms to make your loved one as comfortable as possible. Genetic counseling may be useful in the case of classic or familial CJD, due to the risk of familial transmission.

Researchers here at UCSF have identified several potential treatments for prion diseases and are currently running a treatment trial for sporadic CJD.
